 M1.3  RECAP: AMOUNT–AMOUNT PRACTICE PROBLEMS

Having looked at what amounts ratios are, how to recognize which ratio to use in a given problem is now considered.

The following problem is more challenging, but only in that it offers no guidance.  In principal, however, it is not more difficult than those above and evaluating the relevant stoichiometric factor at the outset is the way to proceed.

In stoichiometry problems involving gases, it might be important to identify any condensed phases, i.e., liquids and solids, at the outset.  Frequently this can simplify a problem as it is often possible
to ignore condensed phases and focus solely on the gaseous components.  For this reason
state symbols accompany many of the equations in this section on stoichiometry in the gas phase.
